fashionskirting: unexpected cutouts

Oopsiedaisy, after last post you might think that I'm not liking the pretty [thin] fashion people but I actually do. I also like seeing new trends and spinning them around a bit differently. Lots of newer skirt-lenghts & shapes are around and pencilskirts seem to be as back as ever. So I combined this image of the beautiful superstunning Anna Martinova for S Style & Fashion (see total here) with this Opening Ceremony's skirt. Ok, not really the same but who but models only could get away with hip-detail like that. The idea is an cutout that is unexpected, daring but also fashion enough for the last week in Paris.

Kerr-ing for Myself

Sorry about the dodgy wordplay but I felt I Kerr to do that...

HUH?

Miranda Kerr ofcourse, that ubermodel with the superglowy skin and a skincare line on net-a-porter.

Ms Kerr (or Bloom, not for Blooming but being Orlando's mrsy) has been advocating advocados & other organic skincare lately. And because I am tired of Gwyneth being the perfect token of health I just went for Kerr instead...Kidding,  I just really like Miranda Kerr's skin and I wouldn't mind having a similar physique in a bikini.

Not sure about putting coconut oil into tea, but I have been buying the Noni juice and I hope to look like Miranda Kerr in 30 days.

OK, that's not an approachable goal!

Let's just say I love Miranda's skin and it would be wonderful to get a glowier complexion!

Have a happy weekend!

Vanity Friday

*beauty wishlist* I really love a beautiful lipstick and this Givenchy totally fits the bill.
Scental Memories:  I'd love to have a full-size of Prada Infusion d'Iris I wore the fragance from a sample the first time I visited Havana.
This lace-embossed Dolce & Gabanna bronzer evokes Sicilian memories, and the matching Sicilian tan. I should get it from the UK or France, as they don't have D&G Beauty in Holland.
This bra from Helena Christensen embodies quirky beautiful.
I wish my hair was as voluminous as my hips: this L'anza Bamboo travel set looks like the ultimate hairset to give it a shiny and healthy appearance.

Vogue Fashion Night: Dutch Edition

Armed with a camera, more makeup than normal, a flexible Helmut Lang dress and some heels-I-could-run-away-with I visited VFN in Amsterdam...

Just a quick round (1 hr) to cure my curiosity of what models would look like in real life [really thin] and a whole bunch of fashion-addicts [really beautifully groomed]. It was more fun than I'd bargained for...

As for the Maje coat in Ph 7: want, especially the one with the leather sleeves (not available in Amsterdam yet)

Pinocchia ft Bleached Denim Jacket

  A Modern Fairytale

 now Pinnocchia feels sexy...

and will shake her hair forever and ever and ever...

and nobody will ever see if Pinocchia lied about something or anything

Outfit: Denim Jacket: Topshop (similar here), Silver Skirt: Whyred top worn (& torn) as skirt (real skirts here), Denim & Raffia shoes: Topshop (not similar but raffia wedges here) . Embellished Collar: COS similar here, bra: Oysho (similar here), Bracelet: etsy.

Disclaimer: No real nosejobs have been performed before/during/after this shoot. Pinnocchia will share the nosy spotlight among women such as Cleopatra, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, Florence Welch and our common-day Billionaress Giselle Bünchen.

Disclaimer 2: I've broken the "sophisticated women" rule by showing both cleavage AND legs. I don't dress up like that IRL but I needed to amp up the 'sexy' factor for the weird fairytale,

My inspiration:

Model Talk: Husband pickin'

Easy theme for today with 3 totally different examples. I think someone's once posted: when in doubt, post a supermodel on your blog. I'd picked the three supers of supers with unordinary husband choices: Kate Moss, Lara Stone and Giselle Bünchen.

Starting with a face that is probably more iconic than the McDonald sign and Jesus (sorry religious people and junkfood lovers): Kate Moss.

Kate Moss & Johhny Depp by Francois Marie Banier (source)
Kate Moss has a thing for bad boy rockers. I think one her best choices has been Johnny Depp in the 90s. Probably not many of you were actively into fashion (or actively teen/adult) in the 90s but it was quite the couple: a kind of collaboration of sharp cheekbones and mysterious beauty.

The relationship ended and Johnny Depp continued dating women with big eyes, fragile frames but strong personalities such as Windona Ryder. He ended up with beautiful, French icon Vanessa Paradis.

As for Kate Moss, she got on with druggie Pete Dorothy and other rocker/badboys before she married Jamie Hince:

Beauty & the beast: Lara Stone & David Walliams

So here's Lara dolled up in a magazine:

Here's Walliams dolled up for his show 'Little Britain':

Ok, they both share a like for lipstick and dressing up...although Walliams wears more clothes right now.

Brings me to the topic of 'the beauty & the beast', also the themesong played at the Walliams/Stone wedding. Movies/Films like 'She's Out of my League' often give the message that an intelligent, somewhat nerdy and not too Quarterback-y man should be over the moon with a beautiful woman.

Actually, you could also turn it around say the beautiful woman should be delighted with a man who has a funny sense of humour (Lara often quotes Walliams that she picked him because he could make her laugh like no other). And I'm sure the Little Britain star has had some cash too.
Lara looking delightfully 'happy' with her hubby
Funnily, when you google the together pickures of Lara & Walliams you often see a beaming Walliams as he hit the jackpot & went to heaven at the same time and a moodier Lara who has uninterested body-language towards her husband.

Curious of how long that marriage will survive.

Last Theme: beautiful & Rich x beautiful & rich makes= Billionaire Stunningness

yeh Giselle, I would smile like that too
So this woman got her quarterback and they both are incredibly rich, do good things for the rainforest and environment, have organic lifestyles and probably their offspring will become beautiful/rich/both too?

Ok, well done Giselle or well Done Tom Brady...or just, nice match.

Moves Like Jagger

Not just anyone's famous daughter. Personally I find her the most alluring of the batch of gap-toothed models released lately. Perhaps that has to do with the iconic parents she has both taken the best of genes from, and her somewhat unusual upbringing in Jagger-mania.

The last cover Ponystep cover (source: fashionrogue) is almost the incarnation of her mum Jerry Hall in her heydays. The first three have a more romantic quality which proves that she can embody both innocence as sensuality in front of the camera.

Vogue Brasil February 2012

Looking outside the contemporary meaning of the concept behind friends-with-benefits, there are more things that you can benefit from friends outside the realm of the physical...My BBFF brought me the newest cover of Vogue Brasil February 2012.

Adriana Lima, probably the second well known Brazilian model in the world (guess who billionaress no. 1 is), is gracing this cover. And with the cooler winter month I consider this perfect image to be the eponym of exotic femininity...
many men (and some women) would love to say: `I have Adriana Lima lying on the couch`

Goodie, now I can update a bit of how the Brazilian fashionable summer-time is going at (Brazil, being on the Southern part of the hemisphere, is having summer now).

Lover's cover

This one will probably pop up on blogs all over, but I still like it enough to cover it over here:

Lara Stone & Kate for Lover's Magazine.
These girls aren't modelly standard (small Kate & busty Lara) and still are intensely wanted on the commercial scale...They are quite the bunnies over here, albeit grunge Bunnies. I really like the nod to the 80s with Lara's doodled faded jeans jacket...That whole jeans vibe of the 80s and early 90s seem to be returning to the fashion scene again.

I like the symbolism behind this picture too: you have this image of two pretty (in their case: gorgeous) girls that look at you: are they flirting with you or are they actually lipstick-lesbians?
Why the latter? Oh, you see Lara Stone actually wrapping her arms around Kate, somewhat protecting her or somewhat declaring to you: 'she's actually mine but you might look at her from a distance'. They can also be the kind of 'wannabe/pretent-to-be-lesbians' that are just in for your attention because (most men) will get a kick out of that. You just don't know.

Overal, fun idea of quirky magazine Lover's to portray those two together in this type of setting.

Emily Byron

Emily Byron @ Jermyn Street wearing a Favourbrook dress

Last couple of days I have been working on a short paper by Lord Byron (as an almost postgraduate in English Literatures). For the people not familiar with Lord Byron, he is a well-known British literary artist who still is quite notorious for his debaucheries.

Anyway, what has this to do with this post? Well, I wanted a good picture or the Lord B and stumbled upon Emily Byron. Emily Byron is actually a descendant of Lord Byron. Although I am quite sure that historical figure Lord Byron was an immaculately dressed gentleman, or dandy, or as this blog rightfully says 'the hipsters of their time', I had my priorities posting this contemporary Byronette for today on my more superficial platform, this blog.

I absolutely love her style...I have a penchant for hats and this combination is a fantastic clash of old-school masculinity and femininity. I think she is quite the female dandy with her sensuous red dress contrasted with the gentleman's hat...

And my scholarly site finds it really interesting she is actually related to Lord Byron, hence the dress and the dandy-esque hat actually bring some extra value behind the fact that she is a pretty picturesque woman in a gorgeous dress: to me, at least.
