I've heard it through the Grapevine

I still had this promise of posting something, so there you go. This blog is for expressing my travel-lust so I think it's a part of liking to share as well.

And for the other small-town girls around, it is sometimes lonely when nobody recognizes your wonderful clothes. Mayby you guys will :). In my case I wore this Equipment dress, My Chloe mini Marcie, Greek-Sandals gladiators and my Dolce & Gabanna sunglasses.

I went to the South of France after two years and I stuck to the coast this time. This whimsical little grapevine vineyard has been the producer of a more elite wine being served at haute classe L'Orangerie at the St. Tropez coast: Chateau de Pamplonne.

Ramatuelle, the St. Tropez beach, was more casual than I expected. I'm slightly spoiled, though. I went to a couple of beach-etablissements, like the infamous Club 55: can you believe they charge you similar price on a seat at the front of the beach than Holland??? But Holland is weirdly expensive on it's space: try parking in Amsterdam under €5 for under an hour.  I'll write more on that soon enough :)

I've Seine It...

Travelling or playing tourist can be a lot of fun. Sometimes people like to impress their Facebook friends by listing the most exclusive and hard-to-reach destinations: or "haven't you been icediving in Antartica? You should!" type of posts.

Then there are the classics that are not just  clichés...Paris, for example...or the Colloseum in Rome. And sometimes you might not 'get it' either: perhaps you have to get older 'n wiser or you just couldn't care less about the #mostphotographed in the world.

In any case, it's your experience which can be a pleasure or maybe a disapointment. As long as you watch your wallet not being taken by those pesky pickpockets..

Insta Sunday

Alghero harbour | Chocolate with Parmacheese! | Roses are Lilac
*
Some of my hairstuff | Bose cutest pastel houses (Sardinia) | Basically true #horoscope
*
disdainful sign makes me sad | DIY on shoe | Pretty Sardinian Church

Hello sweeties,

I still had some pretty photos from photogenetic Sardinia I wanted to share. And I've gotten quite addicted to buying flowers every week. My friend brought me a box of chocolate from Barcelona (Cacao Sampaka) and one of their experimental ones was with parmacheese! It's really tastes weird as it sounds. So yeh, if life's like a box of chocolate than that was a funky experience.

My hairstuff is mostly based on volume and moisture: becoming blonder sure makes you dry. As for the black /n white sign: Geez! Who is to decide who's beautiful or not??? So sad so many women do fall into this trap of negative psychology and even think it's funny. So to conclude like some Forest Gumpisms: Pretty is what Pretty does.

Once a Year, Go Someplace You’ve Never Been Before...

#Pinxtos @ #SanSebastian

San Sebastián had been on my travel-wishlist since last year. I totally passed the town during my South of France/Spain roadtrip so I had to visit it this year.

My goal: eating some Pinchos! Pinchos/Pintxos are the Basque variety of tapas and they are rumoured to be better. The ones I ate (above) were quite good: the bread spreaded with some seasoned tuna salad and the bal-thingy had a cheese 'n dow mixture.

I didn't go to a restaurant based on recommendations because sometimes I just like to discover something without guidebooks or online journals. Also, it's said that there are no bad Pinchos restaurants in San Sebastian and every one has their speciality.

They have a yearly festival too of Pintxos but I think you have to be really hungry to visit all bars: these two were already quite a mouth- & stomach-ful for me.

Destination Sunny: The Backpacker

1. Sequinned Croptop |  2. Isabel Marant reversable!! bikini | 3. Earcuff | 4. Dragon sweatshirt | 5. African print trousers | 6. Anti-Diarrhea | 7. Stella for Adidas Sneakers | 8. Backpack (not the official but the romantic one) | 9.  packs of clean undies | 10. Free People Boots

Most of my 'Destination Sunny' set are about fantasies: the backpacker traveller probably sounds easier and more approachable than the Glam St. Tropez woman. However, I wouldn't last that long if I wouldn't have my daily clean clothes and underwear. Still, I would love to feel free enough to hitchhike with my essentials in a sack, travelling from one spot to another, without planning...

So, I gotten fantastical and not so practical by adding that sequinned croptop (1) and those amazing boots (10). However, not loosing reality and slightly facing my fear of having diarrhea in not-to-fancy hostels, quelle horreur!-> no 6!... And the undies? I love my fancy lingerie but practicality probably will have to guide me into those cheek-covering ones instead of the sensual thongs, and black is more forgiving when you really cannot change every day (again, quelle horreur!).

So, have you been backpacking and how's reality?
 (curious)

Postcards from here

I wanted to say hi from here...

Where is here?
I've visisted Sicily again after having a fantastic time last year.

Based on Traveler I ended up in Menfi at La Foresterie:

The place has an infinity pool with a hilltop-view and everything smells like peaceful herbs and local wine in the afternoon.
I will read some blogs but probably not that much...Internet is not the highest priority when having some nature and finer delicacies around...

Paris on a Plate

I wanted to call it "Paris for Dummies" (Paris pour les nulles), or "Quicky Paris" but I guess people are more skilled on Paris these days (or have a tripadvisor App), so a fashion Paris on a plate it is...

I was inspired by Garance Dore's question of what/where to visit in Paris. Reading the comments of the rest of the girls made me realise I kinda knew some good spots already: Colette, Marais & the latest hype of the & Other Stories shop. I would recommend her to go skating during Fridaynight (here), but would I like to be responsible if the great Garance would blog about her broken leg the day after? Not so much?

Nevertheless, tons of blogs have shopping guides: I'd just add my two cents to see if you like what's served on this plate:

Neighbourhood -
Rue St. Honore
* & Other Stories
The latest member in the family of H&M, COS...only more pinteresty/tumbler-esque/etc. Funkier than Zara: I consider it Balenciaga on a budget.
shopping at & Other Stories
shoes downstairs!
When you can find things online the real shop might not entice you. But they actually had more than online. I totally passed on a black leather jacket with a white collar that I shoulda bought
LBBJ with a quirky collar detail
*Balenciaga [replace by your own fave designer]

If only for that excellent window-instalments but for me to see the real deal in real life.

Or, something I haven't dared yet: Chanel at Place Vendome
Alice Delilah is the model/face for Chanel, which gives it a cool girl feel again, just like Gabriella Chanel used to be in her days.

*Colette
Sometimes superfriendly goodlooking people, sometimes snobs...but I love their book-section.

* Tuileries
time for the park
Probably know as THAT place where all streetstyle photos are taken during fashionweek. Don't expect too many beautiful, fashionable people in non-fashionweeks. It's égalité and the park is for everyone.

Mornings for the sporty crowd:

Afternoon
The romantic crowds & the tourists

But it's still a great walk and many tourist take their huge cameras with them, so you can dress up fashionable and act like your a [retiring/overweight/underweight/in-rehab-but-almost-back-on-track-KateMossish (aka small)] model instead: it's all about attitude.

* Food

Oh right, gotta eat while you pretended to be a model at Tuileries? There is lots of sushi but I personally don't like it (I prefer Teriyaki). I'd say you throw a Marie Antoinette and head for the LaDuree instead for Macarons: Just one, and take tiny bites, and then go running in Tuileries to get the calories off (just kidding, unless you are really a model, ofcourse).

or,

Japanese Delicacies:
Something delicious from Aki Boulanger. It's a Japanese pastry shop close to the Louvre.

* Fragance

How to act expensive while you smell cheap or standard? Go find yourself to elite perfumer Jovoy and say you like something that matches your personality.

That man was startled when I took a photo

Marais:
After you escaped the decadence of Rue St. Honore, you do a complete turnaround and go vintage shopping at Marais...You smell expensive already, so it might diffuse the old stuff you will be sniffing soon.

So you basically avoided the scales after that one macaron? (Oh, who were you kidding, you finished the box within 3 minutes): Let's hit the scales for the clothes:
Kiloshop
weighting a pink boucle coat: €23
elegant Paris: plenty of Boucle coats
another girl browsing at Kiloshop

*I've discussed  free P'shop before 't was a whole lot busier than when I visited it in 2010: total crowdness...shuffle and sniff...

 *the Old Library

To show off on instagram that you have more interest than fashion...or perhaps you could bring your camera and do outfitshots in secret (sssttt, I won't tell): that would totally be more original than the Tuileries crowd on fashionblogs, right?
always wanted to know about 19th century Photography?

 * Food
Lots of patiserries and other good food: I sniffed too many vintage to be hungry so I haven't eaten anything in Marais.

Canal St. Martin

You've seen the expensive Rue St Honore, you got your vintage fix at Marais, now some labels you like: Maje, APC & Sandro.

Canal st. Martin is somewhat like Marais before it gotten famous, I guess. It has some fab speciality shop & some excellent outlets of the big French brands, but there are not that many tourist to be found yet. The food is excellent, varying from middle East, Thai, Nepalese, Chilean and some other varieties.

Big Department stores

There is something utterly relaxing about a department store: you find everything in a smaller range and you can even sit down for a cup of coffee (or LaDuree again).

Le Printemps:
Marc Jacobs often has this gorgeous pop-op store layout. They sell Manolos too and most of the designer brands.
Galleries Lafayette
Messier than I have seen in Marseille, actually too messy, but still fun for some cheaper cashmere. But skip it if you are just in for a quicky.

Museums/art
Art is everywhere in Paris, not just the museums:
in a hall in Marais
Modern Art in window display
Hotel: this lady's having better sensual time than me
So much art going on in Paris: just pick the one that you fancy the most and forget about the crowd's favourites. Check the running exhibitions out beforehand for your own personal best.

That was my personal run-a-ton Paris.  The women at Garance Dore's blog [here] had a lot of tips/links too. Don't do too many monuments: they will probably stay there when you are 50-something and you will finally understand the value of monuments, but now...not yet!

Vanity Friday

*beauty wishlist* I really love a beautiful lipstick and this Givenchy totally fits the bill.
Scental Memories:  I'd love to have a full-size of Prada Infusion d'Iris I wore the fragance from a sample the first time I visited Havana.
This lace-embossed Dolce & Gabanna bronzer evokes Sicilian memories, and the matching Sicilian tan. I should get it from the UK or France, as they don't have D&G Beauty in Holland.
This bra from Helena Christensen embodies quirky beautiful.
I wish my hair was as voluminous as my hips: this L'anza Bamboo travel set looks like the ultimate hairset to give it a shiny and healthy appearance.

Cuba Instagrammed

1 First day: breakfast at the beach
2. True Blue

3. Oldtimer taxis in pastel shades
4. And cycling taxis...
5. Cuba is dance! on the beach as well
6. Latina photographer in a red maxidress

7. Carnaval too, and this girl is taking her Apple along
8.  A fun carnaval when having this cute mohawk

9. Chloë Marcie meets up with (kitch) cuddle
10. Lobster! I'm all about fresh seafood

Gosh, too many (insta)pictures and I only made this small selection. I think my themes are beach, dance, pastel, taxis and food...Perhaps that's why I started to call it Cuba Dulce (sweet Cuba), like a sweet sugarrush of it all.

I am working on a compilation of the Insta/Iphone photos of my adventurous trip to Cuba, but for the moment I will post up this impression of Chinatown in Havana.

Cuban Wedding

In this week of romanticism I'd like to share these beautiful newlyweds that wandered around the streets of Havana

The bride opted for a strapless dress decorated with pearls with long gloves, a gorgeous collier with matching earrings, a smaller tiara around the bun in her hair, and a beautiful bouquet of peach-toned flowers. I also like the tattoo in the shape of the sun on the left side her cleavage.

The groom accessorised with a bottle of water, which was handy for the 25 °C temperature of that day. Actually I like how he adjusted his vest to the bride's dress with the brocade texture.

Havana

Cuba has been really high on my traveller's wishlist since I was really young: my curiosity towards a stubborn country against the odds and such a world-power as a neighbour (the US) spoke to my imagination.

So why now after all this time? Cheap travel opportunity by probably the same capitalist structure older Cuba would frown upon, however, I took my opportunity and visited it for a reasonable price.

Havana was beautiful but also slightly polluted, and, when not seen through tourists eyes, sometimes melancholic too. This picture has been taken at Havana harbour and I wear an older H&M maxidress, a newer Chloe Marcie bag in poppy (here) and some Ancient Greek Sandals (here), and...ofcourse, my Balanciaga bracelet. My sunnies were a dead-ringer for Miu Miu, only copycatted by ASOS (here).

The animated effect is one of the features of my Nikon D5100. I still have to play with it to get more expertise on the field of photography: I prefer to be behind the lens than before it, though.
