Prints in Progress

"Yes, going to Ikea is the age-appropriate thing to do"
Bikerjacket: H&M | Dress: Monki | Booties: Topshop (similar) | Bag: & Other Stories | Bracelet : Etsy (old) | folded bike: Halfords |
Somehow prints struck again: in a dress this time. Bring along the best black bikerjacket -> end up at the Ikea parking lot with a foldable bike: see result above, how bizarre!

Typically Dutch Autumn

Instead of the high fashion sets I usually do, I wanted to go for the more 'down to earth' Dutch variety. The stuff I was raised on,  or, actually the things that are quite the necessity over here during Autumn.

Een, you couldn't go around with huge storms and non-waterproof mascara. DejaVu is a brand that stays waterproof until you add lukewarm water.
Twee because most Dutch women feel the need to be casual and dressed at the same time: a sharp blazer will look good on jeans or with a dress, and this one can be paired with several items.
Drie because our mums will probably provided us with the flowers to make our home more cosy, or perhaps we bought them ourselves...Ofcourse in the colours that match Autumn.
Gloves will become a necessity soon with the colder weather, and what better option than Vier to get a pair in Vinyl: sexy & waterproof at the same time. I already got this pair : )
A bike, Duh. Vijf is in a sassy leopard print.
Zes, boots are a Dutch woman's staple! This Autumn the over-the-knee will be running around, but as the average Dutch woman wouldn't like to be too tacky. This pair still looks decent and is under 120EU; the stereotype. And to conclude with Zeven, an umbrella, but only a stormproof version from Senz.

#Insta-taggin

Instagram-habits
#beerbike
I love instagram. Actually, I have been there from the beginning when it wasn't that popular yet (2 years ago) and I have + 1700 photos on right now.

#hippydutchbike

There are certain instagram-patterns and I have become a "visual traveller" and let my followers or people who find me 'travel' to Holland as well.
It came that way because I am not a face-uploader due to the fact I am not #swedish (that tag gets lots of faces) nor under 24 years. I prefer to revert my face/eyes towards the world and show what I see, so I started with cityscapes edited and that got me my followers.

#Springbike
At a certain moment I started to look for images my followers around the world like: for example...Dutchness, eg by a display of  #happydutchbikes (see above).

The next photo wouldn't do that good as the bikes. Ok, we have #Amsterdam & #canal , but #seebychloeshoes in #offwhite or #borrowedCeline aren't hot topics among (most of my) followers:

perhaps #Shoefetishists&Celinelovers would be enticed
True, sometimes I like to make a pretty photo of a #balenciaga, but most of my followers are not the type that likes to stare at #designerbags. So, I get to the tomboy-girlygirl dichtomy again and I seem to be that typical combination of both on Instagram as well.

What do you photograph the most on Instagram. And do you have a 'multiple social-media personality' as well, eg talking fashion at certain medias & #cityscapes at others?

Sunday tales

Mmm, my week was completely mix-n-unmatch. Sometimes that happens.
 So the good parts:

1. Freja goes online to find a mate, or, he selects some good shoes for me...
2. Spotting #happydutchbikes for instagram
3. Finally, my Rrhea Ring...such a cool brand (see video below)
4. Strong eyes, fierce nails..& the hair says *F* you, gonna fluff *(ok respect!)

Dancin' with Bikes

Jacket: Zara (here)][ Dress: Bijenkorf (similar) ][ Bag: Michelle Franz][ Booties: Zara (similar) ][ Bowler Hat: Korean  (similar)

For the lack of wolves in this country I went for the theme Dancing with Bikes. Bikes, because I want to get around the stereotype that all Dutch people are natural blondes (although I fake brunette-intellectuality as I'm slightly lighter haired). A stereotype that actually is true is that most of us have bikes. Dressing for bikes needs some thought beforehand too, especially when colder.

Winter dresses! They are a variety slightly more difficult than the summer ones. Basically because the tights and the layers come in and you want your dress to have a winterproof quality. I've been a Uni-exchange student in the UK, so I know some British women would venture outside without tights in winter. My exchange student mates and I were completely shocked for them dressing up like it was mid-summer Ibiza in freezin' cold December...yeh, culture shock even exist within Europe.

(ps: my left heel spike pierced some fresh fallen leaves for that autumn-like quality; Or, don't go hicking in these)

The Hague / Den Haag

It's no secret I like cities and I like the Hague. Often the main-City of a country gets a bit too overconfident. I'd used to like Amsterdam when I still had tons of friends there, but the last 5 years I have felt more meh to it. In that case visiting another city in a country has the potential to be inspiring as well, and often with a bit more friendliness and originality involved.

The Hague has the mix of elitism with more-down-to-earthness that attracts me. Also, the coast is quite near. Architecture is impressive & the museums are varied in having both intellectual value (Esher) to just incredibly cute (Madurodam).  The shops have lots: for the Elite crowd there are some excellent speciality shops but Zara is there as well. And I adore Massimo Dutti: the ones in Spain are a bit too far away for me at the time being so it's The Hague in Holland for my Massimo Dutti fix.
