Friday Amsterdam

This weekend is going to be warm and summery in Amsterdam. There are a lot of events going on: Taste (a foodie festival), Amsterdam Open Air (techno etc) and Shoeless for a hippy feeling. The boats will get out on the canals and the wine bottles will cork open easily.

For all fellow Dutchies, have fun this weekend. For anyone in good or even murky weather, have an excellent time as well ᶘ ᵒᴥᵒᶅ

on putting on a Sunny Face

A while ago I posted this picture with a reference to bullying. Something like "People who have been bullied never forget" or the likes of that. In a way, most people have had a certain degree of bullying in their life. And honestly, most of us have been 'teasing' someone too. I'm guilty of both.

When I was on this blog, I noticed the references to me "perhaps not being born a woman". As said in my last post: I'm a Dutch 'farmer's' girl, but I'm certainly been born female. You should meet me and my moody behaviour every month! Unfortunately, my hands seem to be a reference to that thought: I'm just not having small and dainty hands, that's all.

On the picture above I seem to be hiding behind a cuuuuute Monki bag. So all the pseudo-psychologist might refer to me "hiding my insecurities behind shopping" etc etc. For me it is putting on a sunny face. We are often told that "honestly is the best policiy", but believe me, I can be way too honest for your likes. I like my fashion, makeup, hair and outfits to say something about me: how I feel that day. Sometimes I'm a bit of a character, on other days I feel more secure about going neutral.

I think there is a lot of pressure on having a beautiful face these days: instagram-wise. And if we deny putting on regular #selfies, we are supposed to be shy. If we put on too many, we are either too arrogant or perhaps too insecure (asking for constant likes). As for the older girls, if we decide to get old gracefully, we are not in the game anymore. But if we ameliorate our features, we will get the Renee Zellweger scrutiny.

In all ways, we are all beautiful if we behave beautifully. But then, not really. The fact that I mingle well with beautiful people is not that I am one myself but that I share similar personality with them: slightly bitchy but still pretending to be an angel. There should be an instagram-filter for that as well, the Dorian Gray filter.

Have a happy 2015 with either a beautiful inside or outside, or just have good money on you ;)

Personal blahdiblah...

Hi guys,
Time goes on: tick tock in Amsterdam.
 *
It's getting more autumny so let's share something personal. I'm kind of having a 'I remembered to forget' mode about my hair during this summer: I've gotten all into the curling/braiding/my-little-pony-colouring hair thingy. Sort of wanting to be Barbie because I felt I needed myself a proper Ken -> the buff guy with the plastic white smile.
*
Now I distanced myself from wanting a Ken and I gotten into flat shoes again: and polkadot socks. I don't think any Ken likes to see his Barbie in flats outside the gym where she has to work out to keep her hourglass figure, right?
*
But I've been influenced by the Fashionweek and decided I needed a Céline top: ok, it's a sorta bargain from Yoox but still Céline.

Hello sweeties,

I still had some pretty photos from photogenetic Sardinia I wanted to share. And I've gotten quite addicted to buying flowers every week. My friend brought me a box of chocolate from Barcelona (Cacao Sampaka) and one of their experimental ones was with parmacheese! It's really tastes weird as it sounds. So yeh, if life's like a box of chocolate than that was a funky experience.

My hairstuff is mostly based on volume and moisture: becoming blonder sure makes you dry. As for the black /n white sign: Geez! Who is to decide who's beautiful or not??? So sad so many women do fall into this trap of negative psychology and even think it's funny. So to conclude like some Forest Gumpisms: Pretty is what Pretty does.

Hiya Friday Peeps,
It's mostly spring out here so that's an early start. I've been posting two Outfitted the couple of days which I didn't feel too embarassed about my body: yes, slightly older girls can have a bit of body-dysmorphia too. I have quite some hips, booty and not that much cleavage. I've always photoshopped a lot and then I got a remark if I was a transsexual...Ok, that's not it! Let me show of my natural and well-bred female hips again, right? Actually I would encourage all trans-people to be visible in all kinds of fields like the non-trans & I'm glad Facebook gave acceptance on the varieties between gender. Personally, I'm quite happy being born female which is easier as I wouldn't like to grow a penis...Also, I have more options in fashion now.

My instas shows a lot of city-time: I'm actually more in shops testing out makeup but I like to look like a cool girl on instagram. Weirdly, some people prefer me being a tomboy: I always said I was not a tomboy, just a failed femme girl. Fashionblogging puts out the standard a lot higher on being feminine, sometimes too much on the makeup/hair-front: I felt I have to curl my hair like all those others, and my hair is so straight that I can only last for 30 minutes. Good to know stick-straight hair is becoming fashionable again :)

Friday's Instas

1. I'm such a typical Dutch, so another bouquet
2. More red lips for the holiday season
3. The umpteenth time of bra-shopping
4. Food: I eat...and good stuff too!
5. 'Fashion is instant language'
6. Diptyques: shopping for holiday presents
7. At the hairdresser's
8. My own tomato relish!
9. Wardrobe fitting of Hudson jeans

December, I'm not sure if I like the month or not but it keeps you busy.

I'm not too fond about the cold so I don't wanna make fashion-pics right now. Also, I need a photographer-cum-hairdresser to make me look as perfect as the rest of the fashion-posse on the blogs. Easy? I wish!

But I like the act of giving and receiving presents is fun too. And sparkly dresses, shoes and too much make-up

This week has been a dynamic week. I posted this week Outfitted without too much thin-photoshop because I want to show that not every woman should get an eating disorder to look fashionable. And shopping, yeh, I'm in and out of changing rooms to try out various trends. The urban Outfitter's pic shows I often go tomboy-pose when trying on leather jackets. I like having voyeurs like the girl with the cute fringe who check if the outfit looks OK on me. She's my BBF now  ♥

Friday's Instas

Dutch Deco Bicycle | Autumn in Utrecht | Halloween- I'm the black cat
Andy Warhol Sweater | Quote | Celine fetish
Forest autumn | Coffee with a smile | Streetart @ Spuistraat Amsterdam

Autumn has been fully setting with changing colours & leaves falling. The weather is still on the warmer side, but somehow a warm and smiley coffee feels quite right.  As for Halloween I'll embrace my feline side, meow!

Beach-instas

Last week turned out to be unexpectedly summery. That meant I got scarf-spiration from the girl left/above. Also some bohemian earrings that I can still rock for Autumn with some caramel tones.

You guys know I have some hips (see previous outfitted), so I have fed them again with a hearty burrito: If not baked too fatty, it can often be a better way of nutrition than a salad.

Talking about non-fatty: I spotted a professional shoot at the beach. The model turned her gaze to me instead of the cameraman for a while: I'm flattered, because he's better looking than I and has bigger camera tools. Ofcourse, I had a cuter bikini on.

9/1/13

the Instas

the yawn/ the grin
the Dutch tradition/ the Dutch tradition
Banksy book/ Topshop in Holland!

Flowers has been a great Dutch tradition. My mum and other girls & guys mums probably have been on some flowerarrangement-course and they are often quite skilled. I'm not, so good thing the flowers are sold in pre-arranged sets too. But it's still the 'gezellig' (=cozy) thing to do, having flowers in your house.

Updating the hair for autumn is quite a (Dutch) female tradition too. Some stay blonde because they are used to it, is a better lure for men, reminds them of their childhood or just makes them appear softer. I personally ventured into highlights this summer, but I didn't feel sexier with them at all. I gotten roots (something I really frowned upon by others but found out that 2weekly highlighting is such a drag). I think you have to feel happy about your hair to feel beautiful and the blonde was not my way to that.  Christophe Robin, a famous French hairdresser, often advises women to stay close to their own shades, and that's what I am now.

Insta-Friday

1. #sales/#bikini
I finally caved for the sales: a red Vix bikini with a rope/nautical detail

2. Gianvito Rossi Cinderella moment
These are the perfect cinderella shoes ♥

3. Beautiful fragance
I had the need to feel beautiful this week, and basically my face wasn't really reflecting the most of beauty...So I went for feeling beautiful by smelling like it.

4. #Wardroberegrets
I tried to limit my too candid tweets about the hilarious misadventures of my dating life so I went for outfit-talk instead. I went for a leather skirt & after two hours it was like: "wanna change! Not feeling it". I think most of us sometimes experience this feeling about our outfits: liking it first but regretting it later.

of Knitted Summers...

I almost forgot to wish you a really fantastic summer! I hope it will be as fantastic as you imagine.

And if the case is such that "knit happens" (or the phonetic similar one), keep in mind that it can be used to keep trees colourful & happy-looking.

or

a more original philosophical variety of

"maybe you cannot knit a decent sweater, but the efforts of already being able to knit something can flourish up something unusual".

ps: are you planning to DIY if you have some free time in these next months?

Weekend Obsession: Flowermania

I've been getting my Dutch on by buying a tons of flowers.

Gosh, and I have my garden too! I really feel like such a domestic gardeness right now...

Not the weirdest thing: I'm quite into scents and flowers often smell good. Besides that, I love cheerful colours and flowers are often bright to attract those buzzers and feathery creatures...

Insta-chatter

I haven't done the Insta-update for a while! So, in order not to bother you with a boring fashionset...

Top:
1. Good Food: this salad had a plentitude of tomatoes and...ehm...not much else
2. Shoe-stagraming: I jumped illegally on a boat in one of the Dutch Canals for the photo ;)
3. Tools of mass-destruction seduction: eyelash curlers
Middle:
4. fragancia...
5. Freja, got him to match the carpet (or was it the other way around?)
6. Sock-stagraming: Dandy brogues 'n Pugs
Bottom:
7. Cultureboat Utrecht: it sells marihuana...it's Holland so we consider that culture
8. Flowery bike embedded by flowers in Amsterdam: Spring!
9. YES, the Great Gatsby: swooned away by romance and 3 D experience. I still think Leo is cute and Carey is the perfect Daisy: especially her voice that "sounds like money". Tobey always is so good in playing that naive innocence that cannot be corrupted...love that.

#Insta-taggin

Instagram-habits
#beerbike
I love instagram. Actually, I have been there from the beginning when it wasn't that popular yet (2 years ago) and I have + 1700 photos on right now.

#hippydutchbike

There are certain instagram-patterns and I have become a "visual traveller" and let my followers or people who find me 'travel' to Holland as well.
It came that way because I am not a face-uploader due to the fact I am not #swedish (that tag gets lots of faces) nor under 24 years. I prefer to revert my face/eyes towards the world and show what I see, so I started with cityscapes edited and that got me my followers.

#Springbike
At a certain moment I started to look for images my followers around the world like: for example...Dutchness, eg by a display of  #happydutchbikes (see above).

The next photo wouldn't do that good as the bikes. Ok, we have #Amsterdam & #canal , but #seebychloeshoes in #offwhite or #borrowedCeline aren't hot topics among (most of my) followers:

perhaps #Shoefetishists&Celinelovers would be enticed
True, sometimes I like to make a pretty photo of a #balenciaga, but most of my followers are not the type that likes to stare at #designerbags. So, I get to the tomboy-girlygirl dichtomy again and I seem to be that typical combination of both on Instagram as well.

What do you photograph the most on Instagram. And do you have a 'multiple social-media personality' as well, eg talking fashion at certain medias & #cityscapes at others?

Cuba Instagrammed

1 First day: breakfast at the beach
2. True Blue

3. Oldtimer taxis in pastel shades
4. And cycling taxis...
5. Cuba is dance! on the beach as well
6. Latina photographer in a red maxidress

7. Carnaval too, and this girl is taking her Apple along
8.  A fun carnaval when having this cute mohawk

9. Chloë Marcie meets up with (kitch) cuddle
10. Lobster! I'm all about fresh seafood

Gosh, too many (insta)pictures and I only made this small selection. I think my themes are beach, dance, pastel, taxis and food...Perhaps that's why I started to call it Cuba Dulce (sweet Cuba), like a sweet sugarrush of it all.

Vanity photobooth faces

So, am I the only one making weird faces in the mirror while I'm at my vanity feminitity routines?

top left: smoking the eyeliner? I do not think so.
top right: My previous boyfriends feared my teeth...I wonder why?
bottom left: tonging tonging the redhead into perfection
bottom right: Coy face after the hair-eyeliner-etcetcetc

Also, I tried the "white-wall-fashionblogger" thingy and it failed miserably:
graffiti tights & white wall? Meh, graffiti wall & white tights suits me better
left: could I look any snobbier? yes, I actually can.
right: could I look any moodier? Yes, I actually can.
It works on others, but I need locations to make my outfits come alive...

Ps: I've been quite absent on a personal level on this blog. I'm not sure if I will continue, or start up a new blog where I can "be myself" a bit more. Or can I be myself on this blog? (<-not a retorical question)
