Basic Taupes

Celapui Cowl| Balenciaga Jacket '13 (similar) | Monki Sweater | Zara wrapskirt | Asos Shoes- Balenciaga Day '12

I'm wearing something that I call 'Dutch woman'-mode in my Autumn '14 normality: embracing everything skirt...short, midi, maxi, or this one that reminds me of Helmut Lang. I guess this is my version of normcore because the skirt is flexible and the leather jacket is cosy/trendy/warm.
And taupes are the perfect basics for me when I feel like all black is too stark.

Animal Lite

1. Mr Kate Horn Necklace | 2. Balenciaga leather gloves | 3. Topshop camel sweater | 4. Koral Jeans | 5. D&G Animalier Eyeshadows | 6. Jil Sander Patent bag | 7. Guess watch | 8. Valentino ballerinas

Animal print will be big for the next season. You can either work it head-to-toe or clash it relentlessly with other prints. I myself will be going for the Lite version by mixing it with easy 90s basics and a touch of luxe.

How will you wear your animals for the next season?

Shorty gone Autumn

Hat: Bijenkorf  | Scarf: & Other Stories | Shorts: H&M  | Bag: Chloe mini Marcie (similar colour) |  Leather Jacket: in red | Leather top: Topshop (similar) | Shoes: COS (similar) | lipstick: Chanel Rouge Allure Coromandel

I have cowgirled into Autumn with a couple of newbie thingies inspired by London Fashion Week:

a. the scarf inspired by the chic mum (here
b. Cowgirl-hat inspired by Ms. Pink Coat (here)
c. fierce leather jacket inspired by everyone-has-one

I couldn't be bothered posing too pretty girl because my horse would have left me...Not really, but I was thinking about that cowgirl film 'Bandidas' with Salma Hayeck and Penelope Cruz. Anyway, it's about taking your own twist with trends...

Indian Summer Yellows

Clutch: & Other Stories [similar]| Leather Bracelet: Balenciaga (curry) | bracelets right: Redline & Mulberry | Trousers: Zara | Cashmere top: Duffy (also cute) | Belt: primark | Shoes: London Soles | Sunglasses: & Other Stories

Slowly I'm saying goodbye to the summer in terms of fashion: the in betweens of sweaters-with-short-sleeves, the white trousers, and some colours that are still summery bright.

Also, I have slightly newish hair. The beach-blonde has been updated in some close-to-my-own coppery hues that are more suitable for autumn.  So all about colours, right?

Baby Balenciaga

I planned to put the blog on hiatus and end with the hot men (previous post), then Balenciaga came in again.

It's the Balenciaga Date in Corail Rose and has a back-pocket, which makes it different from the Hip version. It will probably the the only date for the time being: I have been on non-active since my last one because   ______

Yeh, let's do guess the blanks ; )

Candy Bikers

Better weather is finally kicking in Holland, and all the sorbet Gelatos & icecreams got me craving for a candy coloured biker jacket.

Some of these selections are totally "in-yer-dreams" as the pricetag goes, but a bit of fantasy is never too bad.

As celeb inspiration I have Balenciaga Muse Kirsten Stewart (when Ghesquiere was still their designer)  who normally goes for black but actually looks fresh in this hue.
For real fashion-lovers: If you like to know why Ghesquiere really left Balenciaga, then this article has an reveiling interview with him.

Have a wonderful week and I'll keep you posted!

Vanity Friday

Nails-that-match-the-bracelet
Continuing last friday's session of photobooth pictures in the name of vanity, I want to declare a tag towards 'vanity friday'. Truth is, some people like to label me as tomboy or in Dutch "stoer" but I am actually quite into grooming etc. Nevertheless, I always notice girls who do label themselves as tomboy to be impeccably made-up too and having perfect hair, so perhaps that's what it can imply as well: the groomed tomboy. Sort of Lipstick-lesbian label without actually being lesbian? Might be.

So it's nails today. I have a bit of a hand/nails complex because they are not my prettiest feature but I overcame that inferiority complex-part and thought they deserved a matching polish to my Balenciaga bracelet. The Balenciaga has been this years Valentine's gift (belated).

Ps: do you consider the 'tomboy'-label to be a form of trend? What about the 'real' tomboys: or, can you be a real tomboy when you spend at least 1 hour on hair/makeup/etc each day, or is wearing Isabel Marant and some wedged sneakers enough these days?

Ps 2: Happy International's Women's day for all women whether Tomboy, girly girl, unlabeled, groomed, Mothers, Fashiongirls, etc.

Havana

Cuba has been really high on my traveller's wishlist since I was really young: my curiosity towards a stubborn country against the odds and such a world-power as a neighbour (the US) spoke to my imagination.

So why now after all this time? Cheap travel opportunity by probably the same capitalist structure older Cuba would frown upon, however, I took my opportunity and visited it for a reasonable price.

Havana was beautiful but also slightly polluted, and, when not seen through tourists eyes, sometimes melancholic too. This picture has been taken at Havana harbour and I wear an older H&M maxidress, a newer Chloe Marcie bag in poppy (here) and some Ancient Greek Sandals (here), and...ofcourse, my Balanciaga bracelet. My sunnies were a dead-ringer for Miu Miu, only copycatted by ASOS (here).

The animated effect is one of the features of my Nikon D5100. I still have to play with it to get more expertise on the field of photography: I prefer to be behind the lens than before it, though.

New in: Balenciaga cruise

Before fashiongenius Ghesquière is about to leave Balenciaga, I decided to snap up something I can (somewhat) afford from the Cruise 2013 collection. My very first Balenciaga!

The cruise collection represented a pearly pink, this metallic cool brown above, a (unmetallic) red and black. It was the gold that made me go this colour instead of the metallic pink, as that one only comes in silver.

I kinda have a lame 'variety' with my last "new in"s only being bracelets, but that is my momentary fetish product...
