I've heard it through the Grapevine

I still had this promise of posting something, so there you go. This blog is for expressing my travel-lust so I think it's a part of liking to share as well.

And for the other small-town girls around, it is sometimes lonely when nobody recognizes your wonderful clothes. Mayby you guys will :). In my case I wore this Equipment dress, My Chloe mini Marcie, Greek-Sandals gladiators and my Dolce & Gabanna sunglasses.

I went to the South of France after two years and I stuck to the coast this time. This whimsical little grapevine vineyard has been the producer of a more elite wine being served at haute classe L'Orangerie at the St. Tropez coast: Chateau de Pamplonne.

Ramatuelle, the St. Tropez beach, was more casual than I expected. I'm slightly spoiled, though. I went to a couple of beach-etablissements, like the infamous Club 55: can you believe they charge you similar price on a seat at the front of the beach than Holland??? But Holland is weirdly expensive on it's space: try parking in Amsterdam under €5 for under an hour.  I'll write more on that soon enough :)

Ghost

Croptop: H&M | Midiskirt: H&M | Heels: Topshop (old, these Dries van Noten's are on sale) | Necklace:V&D (Chloe has one I covet) | Cuff: Unearthed | Bracelet: Monica Vinader

I have been looking for a good croptop set for ages, and now I found a sophisticated one. The creamy set had a ghostlike effect on both my DSLR as my compact, so that explains the eerie effect...Though I'm a bit spooky too, sometimes.

Dar[l]ing Dutch

Bag: Chloe Marcie | Coat: Asos (similar) | sweater: Forever 21 | Trousers: & Other Stories | Shoes: Zara (similar)
Who said darlings can't be daring?
I wanted have some typically Dutch landscape so I gotten into the polder for this one.

The outfit looks kinda confused bohemian: all of these new pastels and revisited ethnic patterns. I look like my mum in the 70s...or my dad could have worn these trousers too. Often children have something of both so that figures :).
Have a superb weekend

Shorty gone Autumn

Hat: Bijenkorf  | Scarf: & Other Stories | Shorts: H&M  | Bag: Chloe mini Marcie (similar colour) |  Leather Jacket: in red | Leather top: Topshop (similar) | Shoes: COS (similar) | lipstick: Chanel Rouge Allure Coromandel

I have cowgirled into Autumn with a couple of newbie thingies inspired by London Fashion Week:

a. the scarf inspired by the chic mum (here
b. Cowgirl-hat inspired by Ms. Pink Coat (here)
c. fierce leather jacket inspired by everyone-has-one

I couldn't be bothered posing too pretty girl because my horse would have left me...Not really, but I was thinking about that cowgirl film 'Bandidas' with Salma Hayeck and Penelope Cruz. Anyway, it's about taking your own twist with trends...

Stormy Silence...

Dress: Issa for Banana Republic | Bag: Chloe Marcie small (in tan & various other colours) | Shoes: Louboutin Pigalle | watch: Sandmwatch | Bracelet: Hermes Kelly | bracelet: & Other stories | Bracelet: Mulberry
The first time I heard about the Issa for Banana Republic collaboration, my heart literary jumped!!! I won't mention Kate Middleton (oh, I just did!) but most important was that I came across it thanks to fave blogger Annabelle from Vivaluxury (here).

I couldn't resist taking the same dress: this one was the funkiest and I love the vibrancy of the colours. I commented to her if the dress would be available online, as I'd even consider flying to London to get this: thanks for my bank-account, it has been available online! (ps: sorry about the windblown hair: my blowdry was lovingly messed by the autumn-esque winds at the harbour)

Shoe-Siren or Bag-Babe?

* bagging = dating according to Urbandictionary definition 3

I am not sure if the binary had been drawn in Sex & the City or by other female oracles, but fashionable girls either seem to prefer one over the other...or, are you more into shoes or bags?

Funnily, I found out that it is not just girls among each other who make this distinction. To the hilarious feed I dispose at my twitter followers, and the ones who get to my hashtags (sounds a bit naughty, right, "getting to your #hashtags), they know I'm single these days. Dating or mingling among men can be totally #hilarious, or #frustrating when one is like "you're too smart for me" and I should have behaved like the ditsy Dutch blonde he was expecting me to be: #lame #excuse. You cannot put too on Facebook if they are still (should I defriend them or not?) Friends.

Anyway, one of the guys I was communicating with was so friendly to stereotype me as the girl who "loves shoes". I, a-fashionfan-who sometimes-tries-to look-cool-(aka Tomboy)-among-men, was slightly insulted because:
1. I LOVE bags
2. I like shoes

I hesitated defining the difference among this clueless specimen of the other sex, but I think the blog is a better forum for this, right girls?

Anyway, there are women (and some men) who are equally into both and having a bi-symmetrical interest in this, or they just love luxury so much and bring in some sunnies too. I personally prefer bags over shoes because most bags have the quality to:

1. always be comfortable (unless too tiny or too big)
2. don't cause bunions
3. travel mate to carry your belovings
4.  I love fondling with them when slightly insecure or nervous
5. no explanation, I just love them!

But, I'd like to know your preference: Bags, Shoes or Both?

Best of Sales

There are some really good sales going on. And what I noticed that the best-known aren't always the best ones: or sometimes they're good but the items are sold out in a nanosecond. So spare me a moment and let's check out some really good sales you might not have heard of (until now).

The Corner is having some excellent brands on sale for 40%, and you can even have another 15% off with code SUMMER15. I personally love this Equipment Blouse (1) and the Ancient Greek Sandals (4)  120,00   74,00 -15%= €63!. But they also feature Proenza Shouler & kaftantastic Athena Procopiou. Keeping an eye on Greek designers: this dress certainly has a stamp on it and fashionfans will recognize Katzantrou's (2) design in an instant. Now half price on Matchesfashion.com. I featured these Gianvito Rossi Hologram pumps twice in my sets: Now they're half price too but only one size left...

From brights to the more classic monochromes: I love this & Other Stories Dress (4) that pair beautifully with a pair of black suede pumps (7) with a quirky heel detail. I have them in tan and they're really comfy so I probably will get these blacks too. And Chloe, ohhhh Chloe! Harrods.com is having this dove-grey Elsie crossbody (6) on from £840.00  £499.00. So tempting! If I can hold out until this weekend there will be an extra 10% off for members, but it might be gone then so I'm not sure...

Rad Reds! This bag (8)  €75 €53 looks a bit like a woman's tush but that makes it fun for wearing around. These Fendi heels (9) €480 €288 will look dazzling at your holiday destination. They also have various Isabel Marant's on sale. And to conclude: Frenchsole is a favourite among sensible but elegant footwear that will walk you through the whole citytrip. These more modern Perplex version (10) are on sale but they also have these two-toned elegant version you see Olivia Palermo wearing £95 £48.
Happy shopping...
EUR 120,00  EUR 74,00

Park Zen

Blouse: Equipment ' toile du Jour' (older collection: cute print here) | Lace short: H&M | Shoes: Chloe (old, but ss13 collection has similar in silver and gold) | Clutch: Corumni etsy | Bangle left: House of Harlow | bracelet right: Hermès Behapy | headband: simple one

I had this intention to go full-on fashionblogger glam for my return with makeup/curls/the works, and eventually it has become one stroke of eyeliner and [autocam] on. The airy feel is better suited for the hippy romanticm so I'm glad I didn't pile it on...

I think I am dressing more like myself than previous year: I experimented with trends that were often not that suitable for me: I still giggle about my tennis leather attempt. In real life I tend to stick to classics with a twist. Although I surprised myself with wearing shorts this short ;-)...

Tan

*some things look better with a tan*

Even though I love statement hues, I consider tan to be a classic and of a similar value as black can offer in the field of sophistication.

Or, I simply ♥ these pieces.

Havana

Cuba has been really high on my traveller's wishlist since I was really young: my curiosity towards a stubborn country against the odds and such a world-power as a neighbour (the US) spoke to my imagination.

So why now after all this time? Cheap travel opportunity by probably the same capitalist structure older Cuba would frown upon, however, I took my opportunity and visited it for a reasonable price.

Havana was beautiful but also slightly polluted, and, when not seen through tourists eyes, sometimes melancholic too. This picture has been taken at Havana harbour and I wear an older H&M maxidress, a newer Chloe Marcie bag in poppy (here) and some Ancient Greek Sandals (here), and...ofcourse, my Balanciaga bracelet. My sunnies were a dead-ringer for Miu Miu, only copycatted by ASOS (here).

The animated effect is one of the features of my Nikon D5100. I still have to play with it to get more expertise on the field of photography: I prefer to be behind the lens than before it, though.

New in: New out

Oh oh oh, I loved them since spotting them last spring (here), the Chloe Staceys...

I tried them on and... they were unconfortable in their patent-ness...

That made them a RTS (return to sender).

Wishlist: Tiny Bags

Clockwise left: Reed Krakoff Standard mini Leather ][ Chloë Marcie Small ][ Yves Saint Laurent Belle Du Jour Clutch ][ Miu Miu Leather Drawstring bag ][ See By Chloë Poya

It must have something to do with enjoying my smaller Jerome Dreyfuss a lot, and wanting to try a new brand. Cheating somewhat because I already own a Chloë and because I love it I'd (mini)splurge again.

I'm a bit contra-trend because there's nothing Cameo, Gothic leather, or other AW 2012 trends going on, but I love the fresh femininity of these colours.

The Loo (a Dutch palace)

Cape Dress: COS. Bag: Zara (similar),  Bangles: Mulberry. Shoes: Chloë (super discounted)

Most of the time the connection with the Dutch Royal family is with celebrations (eg Queensday), which explains me posing like a mad celebration in the last two photos.

LowLuv ring with a royal -like emblem

(not of any country/family/etc as far as I know, but I think models are the new nobility so this one is from the Erin Wassun-clan)

I'm going to leave the outfitted posts for what it is for a while; The sort-of-fashionblogging part has been a sort of personal project to actually get the feeling of what it actually is to put yourself online with a specific outfit. I only witnessed it from others and never thought I could overcome my shyness to do it myself. I have gotten some really sweet comments and had loads of fun with it (see above), even though I know I don't do the standard poses (I just cannot do sexy in a serious way...). The most difficult to put online were the leather-clad outfits: I once heard a blogger (fashionsnag) talking about her 'leathercrowd' and I really wondered if the post would be visited more if I put something leather-outfit on. It actually did, but, exactly as my hypothesis, these are probably not the kind of persons who would comment on it. Unfortunately I finished university a while ago otherwise I would love to have put my experience and interview others on this new form of social communication in a research essay.

I'm still surprised by the world of fashionblogging, fashion and the (hidden) rules behind it: the issue of weight, the aspect of inclusion (based on weight, hair,  coolness and social proximity) and exclusion from it, the enabling between bloggers, the influence of commercial shops on promoting their products via giveaways, etc. Even though there is the argument that 'real people' fashionblog, I have the feeling that the standards of being thin, gorgeous & young are still seen as the golden standard. Also, the question of being fashion enough. I have to reverse the statement that Anna Della Russo has on her blog that my goal was never to be fashion in the way that is fashion these days. My goal is to have a wardrobe that I feel good about and has an element of surprise that matches my personality. I mean, fashion is a reflection of the zeitgeist and if this zeitgeist is about skinny people wearing lots of armwear and having dark roots with blonde ends than that is what this time is about, but I don't feel obliged to go that direction if that isn't appropriate for me. Fashionideas change: two years ago strong beauties such as Freja Beha Erichsen were de rigueur whereas in S/S 2012 fragile women with pouty lips like Lara Stone are seen as fashionable. Perhaps next year another type will be on the foreground as most fashionable.

Sorry about this 'declaration' but that is just something that I am about...It's not that I say I will never put an 'outfitted' post up online again but I consider myself and the blog to be more rounded than merely focussing on outfits, otherwise I wouldn't have called the blog Mlle Wanderlust right?

Clonies...

I kind of bought these on an impulse when they were finally in stock at Zara.com. I'm actually not that much into studded boots and the cowboy shape isn't really a regular piece in my shoe-robe either.

I think it was the lipstick red again! It does things to my buying impulses.

Actually, the quality is Zara-like quality (not too bad but with some cheap soles but quite goodlooking from the top). Then again, they're still €119 which is a lot of € when they aren't really your type.

Then again, I've got quite some real designer going on, why not mix in some clones and see if people really notice ;P

Antigona, Strollin' around

The photos might be edited with Cinerama, but I'm just the supporting actress:
My Givenchy Antigona is the real St✰r here

Outfit: Bag: Givenchy Antigone small (bagporn-post here & hot lipstick red one preorder here or larger sizes here and here), shoes: Chloë Buckle , Skinny jeans: DL1960 Angel in Icing, Top: M Missioni, Suede bolero Jacket: Selected Femme, Belt: COS, ,  Necklace: Monserrat de Luca , Bangles: COS. Earrings: Gorjana Fairytale. Nails: Essie Russian Roulette

Last week I received my Givenchy Antigona and I could 'air' her in the late afternoon in a pictoresque urban setting. It is a smaller bag, or it said picollo on the bill, but precisely what I anticipated for. It has a sturdy structure reminiscent of old school doctor's bags which makes it perfect for stronger Mlles like I am.

I love my new Choë's and they walk quite easily for a higher heel. As for the DL1960 Angel skinny: I don't like them so much and I call them my mum's jeans. Seriously, my other pricy skinnies like Paige are much more subtle in hiding my female puppy fat and look more expensive too..I love the 'Icing' colour, though, not too pastel but different enough from being a standard jeansy colour. I have them since February, btw.

Chloë Fall '12 Lookbook: Leather Goods

Source: Chloe.com

It's obvious that I admire the aesthetics of Chloe's accessories, especially the leather goods.

Their A/W 2012 lookbook is absolutely promising with a new set of names & structures of bags. And, haven't we seen that type of shoe (Abigail) before? It absolutely has the shape of my 2007 infatuation and current shoe-love, only in a higher heel and in a covetable lipstick red colour.

I'm drawn to the Carla: structured, still the joie-the-vivre element that Chloë embodies and in a strong grey that will work delightfully down-to-earth after this season of superbrights. I've read in the comment-section of Fashiongonerogue  discussing the non-leather fashion that it looks like Celine but actually it reminds me of a more directional version of the more bohemian Chloë Edith.  Somewhat I feel that Chloë is reworking the typical set of pantone 1970s colours which look absolutely earthy to me.
